Dr Peter Keogh is a Pain Specialist Physician and Anaesthetist.

Using the latest pain management techniques and technologies, Peter’s focus is to get his patients back to enjoying the things they love most.

His extensive training, specialist experience and attention to detail enables him to treat all types and aspects of pain. He has particular skill in interventional pain medicine using injections and nerve treatments to control pain. Joint injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency treatments (RFN and PRF), Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, peripheral nerve stimulation, spinal cord stimulation and other advanced neuromodulation techniques are just some of the treatment options he offers. Peter also works closely with PSA’s occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and dieticians to help support his patients.

Peter graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine, UK, in 2004. He underwent vocational training in both anaesthesia and pain medicine at the internationally renowned Barts and the London School of Anaesthesia. He later became a Consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine at St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Hospitals, London. After moving to Australia, Peter received specialist recognition from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM). This means that Peter is recognised as a highly skilled Pain Specialist Physician and Specialist Anaesthetist in both the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Peter works full time in treating patients with pain. Immediately prior to his practice with PSA, he worked as a Pain Specialist Physician and Specialist Anaesthetist at the highly regarded Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, treating patients with acute and chronic pain and pain related to life-limiting conditions, such as cancer.

Peter holds a strong connection with medical education and is a lecturer at Monash University in the field of pain and perioperative medicine. He has published widely in relation to pain and perioperative medicine and remains up to date with emerging treatments and advanced technologies.

DR GLAREH ARFAEI

Specialist in Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine

Dr Glareh Arfaei is a Specialist in Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine.

Glareh believes that pain can affect many aspects of a person’s life including their ability to function, their mental wellbeing and quality of life. She is passionate in supporting her patients to break this vicious cycle and supporting them on a path to recovery. She describes herself as a patient advocate and involves her patients in their treatments at every step.

Glareh is experienced in treating all types of pain and holds a strong interest in pain of a neurological origin, musculoskeletal pain, persistent post-surgical pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and abdominal and pelvic pain.

In addition to her work at Pain Specialists Australia, Glareh works as a Specialist Pain Physician at Eastern Health (Angliss hospital) and a Rehabilitation Specialist at Donvale Rehabilitation Hospital.

Glareh graduated from the Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2003 before undertaking vocational training in Australia. She became a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2016 before completing further sub-speciality training in pain medicine, becoming a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2020.

Prior to her specialist training in rehabilitation and pain medicine, Glareh gained extensive general medical expertise in her time as a both a general practitioner registrar and general medicine registrar. It was in these roles that she developed her interest and skills in medical research and medical education. Glareh’s extensive Pain Fellowship training was completed at the well-regarded Alfred, St Vincent’s and the Austin hospitals. Her Rehabilitation training was undertaken at the Austin, St Vincent’s, Epworth and Bendigo hospitals. She also worked at Peninsula Health as Specialist Rehabilitation Physician and supervising interns and senior medical registrars.
